Acoustic Insulation
Quiet Nights
The three-layered insulated windows of the Pyramide Hotel
in Nuremberg offer guests a quiet night’s sleep-—even
though the hotel is located just meters from the one of the
busiest highways in Germany. And since UVEKOL® was used
to bond the glass, the architect sleeps quietly, too.
Keeping noise below a 40 dB level was just one of many challenges faced by Karl-Heinz Lagaly, the Managing Director leading the Pyramide Hotel project. German construction codes specify P3A security and a k-value of 1.1. Also, architects are personally held responsible for the safety of the structures they build. It’s not hard to imagine that Lagaly had more than one restless night.
"With a non-traditional pyramid shape several stories
tall, the Pyramide was a challenge," Lagaly said. “Fortunately,
we knew we could depend on UVEKOL."
"After more than ten years in harsh German weather, every project we used UVEKOL on is still bright, shiny, and as tight as it was the day we put it in," he added.
A Sound Investment
Elasticity of the UVEKOL interlayer provides superior sound-deadening properties for UVEKOL A. As an effective noise barrier, UVEKOL contributes greatly to the quality of life as living and work spaces become more and more congested.
