AVIMID RB is a high temperature, Tg 644°F/340°C, thermoset
polyimide resin with wet service capability to more
than 530°F/277°C wet and 600°F/316°C dry service capability.
AVIMID RB has excellent thermal-oxidative stability
and resistance to aircraft fluids.
It was formulated for prepreg autoclave vacuum bag processing,
but it can be successfully compression molded both as
a prepreg and in dry forms as neat resin or chopped-fiber
molding compound. Unidirectional tape and woven prepreg
of AVIMID RB will retain their tack and drape for 14
days at 70°F/21°C.
Standard autoclave or compression molding processes,
to a final temperature of 680°F/360°C will result in
full Tg development/cure, with no need for post-cure
treatment. AVIMID RB can be solution impregnated on
a variety of fibers and fabrics.
