CYCOM 5575-1 RTM

CYCOM 5575-1 RTM is a development of Cytec Engineered Materials’ existing modified cyanate ester prepreg resin CYCOM 5575-1S, formulated specifically for the space industry. It is dimensionally stable with low moisture absorption, low outgassing and low microcracking.

CYCOM 5575-1 RTM is a one-part system with a 14 day room temperature out-life and a frozen storage shelf-life of 6 months @ -18ºC (0ºF). It has an injection temperature of 95ºC (205ºF), at which its viscosity will be below 250 cps. As the resin is heated to cure temperature its viscosity is further reduced, helping to ensure full wet-out of the reinforcing fibres.

CYCOM 5575-1 RTM has a recommended one step cure of 3 hours @ 175ºC (~350ºF), after which the resin will have a continuous dry service performance of 175ºC (347ºF), and a hot/wet service performance of 150ºC (302ºF).

CYCOM 5575-1 RTM is compatible with the usual range of reinforcing fibres utilized for the manufacture of composite components, i.e. carbon, glass, aramid etc.

Typical applications for CYCOM 5575-1 RTM resin include space structures, and other aerospace and industrial applications requiring very good moisture resistance.

As well as CYCOM 5575-1S prepregs, other products in Cytec Engineered Materials’ cyanate ester family are a structural film adhesive, FM 2555, and a syntactic foam, FM6555-1.
