Silicone Coatings and Adhesives
Pressure sensitive liquid adhesives exhibit tenacious initial adhesion and bond strength for rubber door seals at Bell Helicopter, and interior fixtures on Douglas Airplanes. Excellent for bonding silicone rubber components to metal or other substrates.
Heat-cure elastomeric adhesive bonds silicone rubber and other substrates with high strength silicone rubber properties. Extensively used with extruded seals and Reusable Vacuum Bag (RVB) kits.
One-part coatings seal porous surfaces for vacuum integrity, resistance to water and chemicals, and to improve release characteristics. Applications include composite tools, silicone castings, and even waterproofing dinosaur movie props.
Two-part brushable and sprayable elastomers, applied to complex contours, is used for protective coatings, conformal Reusable Vacuum Bags (RVB) or sophisticated pressure bladders.
Cryogenic/high-temp fluoroelastomer coatings are used by Boeing North American on space suits and Liquid Oxygen (LOX) lines on the space shuttle. Excellent chemical resistance coupled with the extreme service temperatures make the material suitable for many adverse environments.
