Safety – including employee, product and process safety - is a core value at Cytec. We promote safety in all aspects of the value chain, including the safe handling of our products by our customers. Safety is an integral part of our research and development management system, and is incorporated into our new product development process.

Committed to Product Stewardship
Product stewardship is an integral part of sustainability at Cytec. This encompasses the responsible and ethical management of our products throughout the product life-cycle. Our product stewardship initiatives also span the value chain from our suppliers of raw materials to our customers, extending down the value chain to the ultimate finished product. We regularly and openly discuss the safe and environmentally responsible management of our products with our customers. We provide hazard information on our products in our MSDS’s, and have an emergency incident response (ERIM) system that operates on a 24-7, global basis.
Committed to Sustainability
Cytec is committed to sustainability and strives to produce products that are safer and more environmentally friendly than those of our competitors. We are currently developing a world-class product sustainability metric, and already use aggressive targets for energy and waste reduction, and for climate change. We belong to Climate Leaders®, a U.S. EPA sponsored program to help companies reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We also participate in the U.S. EPA Sustainable Futures® program, which uses EPA modeling to assess the environmental aspects of our new products. Committed to Community Involvement
Cytec is actively working in the communities in which we operate to make improvements and lend a helping hand. These include the following:
- Supporting annual fundraisers for United Way
- Purchasing Science Screen Report for Kids Kits and donating them to local schools (educational videos and teacher guides that aid teachers in classroom instruction on topics such as chemistry, chemical engineering, technology and medicine)
- Cytec employees conducting science experiments in local schools
- Employees participating in neighborhood clean-ups
- Hosting/co-hosting community health fairs and blood drives
- Teams of employees participating in fundraising walks/runs
Committed to Compliance
Cytec is actively working to comply with Europe’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances regulation (REACH). The goal of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. We are working with our suppliers and customers to continue to meet the needs of our customers while also complying with the REACH requirements.
