REACH - a European Community regulation – stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances.  This regulation, effective on 1 June 2007, requires earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances through testing and analysis. REACH requires industry to take responsibility for managing risks posed by chemical substances, and unless exempted, all chemical substances manufactured in or imported into the EU must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This registration consists of the submission of information on the use and safety of substances.

Cytec is fully engaged in the implementation of REACH, and we are working closely with our Customers and Suppliers in this context.
 

REACH impacts all organizations within the chemical industry, including manufacturers, importers, distributors and customers. As of 2 December 2008, REACH required that all substances manufactured in or imported into the EU above 1 ton/year be pre-registered to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Pre-registration allows material suppliers to benefit from special transitional arrangements while ensuring continued supply to the EU market until materials are fully registered. Full registration will be done in a tiered approach from 2010 until 2018.
