CYTEC LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE UV
CURABLE POLYURETHANE DISPERSION FOR PIGMENTED SPRAY COATINGS
West Paterson, NJ, July 2, 2008 - Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE:CYT),
a leading innovator in water-borne systems, has successfully
launched a new member of its range of UV curable products under
the name UCECOATŪ 7699.
UCECOATŪ 7699 is an aliphatic UV curable polyurethane dispersion
(PUD), especially designed for high end wooden furniture top
coats. Due to its outstanding benefits compared to traditional
UV-PUDs, this unique material is particularly recommended for
pigmented coatings. It can, however, also be used for clear
coatings and other applications and substrates.
The product exhibits a low viscosity level (35 percent solid
content) and can therefore easily be applied by spray or curtain
coaters. It shows an outstanding hardness and scratch resistance
(pendulum persoz hardness before UV curing: 135 seconds and
after UV curing: 360 seconds), as well as an exceptional stain
resistance. Furthermore UCECOATŪ 7699 is characterized by its
excellent stability and high reactivity in both pigmented and
clear systems. These features make it the ideal choice for top
coat applications that are also in thick pigmented layers.
UCECOATŪ 7699 meets the growing need of the furniture industry
for more innovative systems by allowing an easy formulation of a
broad variety of colors with one single system. It is the result
