Rubber Compounding
- What should you expect from a tire? It must stick to the road, help save fuel, be safe, long lasting and have the lowest possible environmental impact. In addition to the design of the tire, several chemicals are compounded with natural rubber to provide these desired properties.
- Cytec supplies the tire and rubber industry with a toolbox of specialty resins – amino crosslinkers and phenolic novolacs
– designed for rubber reinforcement and
adhesion to metal and organic fiber
reinforcement cords.
- Adhesion promoter ALNOVOL PN 759 offers formulators a true alternative to resorcinol for steel-and textile cord bonding applications. It has improved adhesion properties, low environmental impact and is almost odorless.
- Other ALNOVOL Phenolic resin grades can
be used in various rubber applications and
are especially designed for the tire and
rubber industry.
- Cytec’s CYREZ® resins are particularly adapted to the tire manufacturing industry. They are available in different forms of supply, such as grades that are dust free as well as grades with good flowability. They are also blended to different kinds of carriers, including those mainly based on silica.
- CYREZ® hexa methoxy
methylmelamine (HMMM) crosslinkers are
used in rubber compounds as curing
agents for adhesion promoters like
ALNOVOL® PN 759 or
resorcinol, or as reinforcing resins.
